Full Description

Aboard the newly launched sternwheeler American Empress, we’ll cruise the historic path of Lewis and Clark’s expedition in 1805 and 1806, following the footprints of the Oregon Trail pioneers. Our journey will take us through eight locks and along more than 400 miles, from Astoria, Oregon, to Clarkston, Washington, as we experience the incredible scenery of the Columbia River Gorge.

The mighty Columbia River is the longest waterway on the West Coast, and the only one to carve its way through the Cascade Mountain Range, making east and west migration possible. By the time you disembark, you will have seen sights few people have the opportunity to gaze upon from that vantage point—rolling farmland, orchards and vineyards, bustling towns and cities, incomparable Pacific Northwest scenery, interesting and unique cultural attractions, and historic sites.

The American Empress offers a boutique cruising experience, with only 223 passengers on board. Deluxe accommodations and a staff that pays acute attention to detail ensure that your journey is comfortable and delightful!
